DowelCAD was created to aid in the optimization of dowel bar design and, by using it, a pavement engineer can determine joint responses to varying dowel sizes or investigate the impact of various alternate dowel bar configurations. The DowelCAD software consists of two modules that work independently of each other. The first assists the pavement engineer with determining various joint responses to varying dowel size. The second module assists the user in assessing the impact of dowel spacing.
